Hunting System

Main Contract and Hunting Regulation

No individuals or groups of individuals may hunt using the practices of an Assassination Attempt (AA), without first passing thru Caste entry process, and given the 'OK' by the Ubar and counsel to do so.

Should a Killer receive a contract, it is to be sent to the Ubar for confirmation and acceptance.

Any hunt given to another Killer by the Ubar is responsible for that hunt and the steps they're supposed to take to accomplish that hunt. Those who do not follow by the regulations will be dealt with accordingly.

Types of Hunts

Standard Contract Hunts: A standard contract hunt takes place when an Assassin has taken gold, and let the Ubar of Assassins know of said hunt to be evaluated. These hunts continue until the mark is dead.

A Treason, Disloyalty, or Misconduct Hunt: A treason, disloyalty, or misconduct hunt takes place when a 'Member of the Brotherhood' somehow acts or conducts himself in a manor that the Ubar and council view as worthy of removal from the Brotherhood. As we all know, there is only one way to leave the Caste. He may be hunted repeatedly until dead. Mainly this is done in character, though if there's an incident where AOL's TOS rules have been violated, repeatedly, OOC action may be taken as well. This "forum" of the Registered Black Caste will not be known for player harassments, or the constant breaking of AOL's TOS rules.

Who can hunt, and when they can do so:

Ubar of Assassins: He may hunt, but cannot participate within DM's unless there's no way out. The Ubar may choose a champion. Women will never take this slot.

General: For all brothers of the caste they must go through the full process of hunting down the mark.

Females: Females are rare to the Caste, but that does not mean they cannot hunt. They have proven themselves worthy enough to be able to join the Killers Caste, and they will prove themselves through gold and blood.

Applicants, Pledges, Probationary members: Applicant's, pledges, and probationary members may 'NOT' at any time attempt an Assassination. (excluding their AA training with mock AA's)

Dice System of the Black Caste

An applicant (male and female) to the caste rolls 2d20 in combat and *cannot* Assassinate. No person may claim to be an applicant to the caste unless the Ubar of Assassins informs that person to do so.

A male pledge to the caste rolls 2d21, females roll 2d20, in combat and *cannot* Assassinate. No person may claim to be an applicant to the caste unless the Ubar of Assassins informs that person to do so. Male pledges have the ability to gain up to 2d22 with skill tests, Gorean knowledge tests, and personality tests. Female can gain 2d21.

Standard female Assassin roll 2d21.

Standard male Assassin roll 2d22.

Elder female Assassin roll 2d22 for assassinations, 2d21 for combat.

Elder male Assassin roll 2d23.

Steps before hunting:

Taking Gold: The Assassin must, I repeat, MUST have a log of them taking gold for the hunt. The following must be within this log in no particular order.

  • The amount of gold given.

  • Reason for the hunt.

  • Name, or description of the hunted.

  • Name of the contractor.

  • City the hunt must take place.

Stalking and Planning: Before a Brother may execute a hunt he must first have the following:

  1. 3 logs of the mark role playing. Each log must contain at least 12 entries by the mark, and three entries from the Hunter. (you needn't RP that your watching him... anything is fine. You may also use another SN if that SN is your Assassin character in disguise, however if you use a disguised SN after the hunt is over you must delete that SN forever) There must be a time span of at least 30 minutes between each log (for instance you can NOT have one big log of 36 entries by the Mark and 9 by you, then break it up, and turn it in for approval. The purpose of this is to get rid of the 'Locate Button Assassin') Any less can only be accepted with another Killer present to vouch. Before you send in the logs, highlight both your entries and the entries of the mark. Downloads will not be accepted.

  2. A written plan of how you have stalked, planned, and prepared for your strike against the Mark. include modifications for any special defenses, such as NPC's. Be imaginative, ANYONE can be killed should enough effort and intelligence be put into it. The purpose of this is to show the SL of the kill.

  3. Response. After you have all three logs and your written plan of attack, send all to the Ubar of Assassins, or his chosen scribe. Title the mail "**BlackCaste - Dated Material**". Downloads will not be accepted. The Ubar, or scribe, will either send their approval or disapproval.

Unacknowledged Hunts

  1. We will not hunt Kurii.

  2. We will not hunt our own.

  3. We will not hunt Panther Girls, Taluna or Low Caste women.

  4. We will not hunt for contracting throw away screen names, and this will be checked into.

In order to be legal

  1. The assassin must be acknowledged in the Caste and not on probation.

  2. Contract has to be on file.

  3. Must have the dagger displayed within your profile stating you are on a hunt.

  4. Stalking logs and plan of attack must be sent to the Ubar of Assassins.

  5. Assassin must have final approval from the Ubar of Assassins.

  6. Log must be sent of attempt and success/failure.

Safe Zones

You're kidding.. right? There were no save zones within the Gor books, and in thus, there are no places safe from being hunted. If an assassin happens to have your PR link it's because someone you trusted, or yourself, gave it to them. That assassin will have to send in a valid way they found out about the domain, if they don't, then approval will not be met.

Steps for the AA

  1. Must have a proctor in room. It is good to have someone impartial, if you can't find someone that knows the process, do so yourself. Make sure it's legal and logged. Also, if you do the proctoring yourself, you can either do the OOC version IE: below.. or you can RP being unseen/seen, missing/being successful. Again, we're trying to promote Role-playing, not filling up the room with OOC mess.

  2. Roll 1d6 for seen or unseen:

    • 1-4 "Assassin Unseen" assassin may continue

    • 5-6 "Assassin Seen" assassin may continue or leave - if assassin continues and the mark is 'NOT' killed. He has the choice of forcing you to a DM (no dice rolling is required for the mark to do this)

Proctor can send one of two things into the room:

~The Assassin is Unseen, do not react to his presence~
~The Assassin is Seen entering (in the area), but you note nothing out of the ordinary~

    If continued:

  3. Must state the painted dagger on the forehead two times before the actual blow is struck.

Proctor can send the following into the room:

    ~dagger stated twice~

  4. The Assassin will describe the strike and state the full SN of the target in the action.

  5. The Assassin will roll his/her Assassination dice. (2d21, 2d22, or 2d23)

    The dice roll effects

Die rolls for any assassination attempt, using standard dice rules,  are as follows:

One point roll = ten blood points.

Two point roll = fifteen blood points.

Three or four point roll = death.

Proctor can send one of the following things into the room:

    ~Target Missed ~
~Target Missed, Target may force Assassin to a DM~ (if seen)
    ~Target Wounded for 10 damage~
~Target Wounded for 10 damage, Target may force Assassin to a DM~ (if seen)
    ~Target Wounded for 15 damage~
~Target Wounded for 15 damage, Target may force Assassin to a DM~ (if seen)
    ~Target Killed ~

  6. At this point if you were unseen and the mark is alive, you leave unnoticed.

  7. If you were seen and the mark is NOT dead, he/she has the option to force you to a DM. Give the mark a reasonable amount of time to decide on the DM. If after 5 mins the mark has not made up his/her mind as to whether he/she wants the DM then they forfeit their chance. The proctor will keep the time. If the Assassin is forced to a DM it may be scheduled for any time up to 3 player days from the time of the event. ONLY the intended target of the Assassination may force the Assassin to the DM (No NPC's, champions, friends, or body guards)

Note: if a DM happens the mark will start with any damage inflicted by the AA. The only possible damages that the Mark can enter combat with from the AA are 0, 3, or 6.

Chances of a successful AA:

for a standard female assassin: 23.80% per die, for a total of 47.60%
for an elder female assassin: 23.80% per die, for a total of 47.60%
for a standard male assassin: 27.27% per die, for a total of 54.54%
for an elder male assassin: 30.43% per die, for a total of 60.86%

On Death Matches:

Every other round of a DM an Assassin may roll his/her normal attack dice for a chance to escape. To manage an escape you have to roll two or more points. If they fail then they lose their attack that round and must continue. Another escape can be made in the round after the next. IE: 2, 4, 6, 8 etc.. This is also for DM's that are NOT the result of a failed AA and it's resulting forced DM. Killers were known mainly for their stealth and their idea of "run away, live to hunt another day." It's rumored that they're not one on one fighters for a reason, even if they do train for it.

Intentional evading an Assassination:

If the assassin suspects their target of intentionally evading role-play of the attempt, after two attempts, they may institute direct contact through IM and e-mail to set up an agreeable time and place for the attempt to be played out. If they are still not satisfied... they have an option to speak to the Ubar for arbitration. Then petition to have the mark declared dead.

NOTE: If an honest attempt is made by the assassin to engage their target, and the target does not have a legitimate or sufficient reason to avoid role-playing the attempt, the contract might be considered successful without the attempt being played out or the rolling of dice.
